MusicMusic in WorshipOur Music Director, Sandy Murray, organizes the music at both Sunday worship services, and music and drama for the children.
Praise Team: Sings contemporary music for the 8:30am service. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays at 7:30pm.
Adult Choir: Sings the anthem and leads the hymns at the 10:45am service. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm.
Children's Choir: The children’s choir is a time for children of all ages to learn about music and arts as they are
used in worship. The kids learn fun songs and scriptures, hymnology, basic music theory, stage presence, sign language and play together to gain confidence and friendships. Once a month, the children’s choir will present a musical offering and participate in both worship services. By integrating the children’s choir frequently in Sunday morning services, the children will gain confidence as worship leaders and be an active part of the NFUMC.
Handbells: Are meeting on Tuesdays at 6:30pm.
Share your talents! Nolensville First UMC is filled with offerings exciting new forms of worship! If you are interested in reading a monologue, sewing a tunic, singing a duet, teaching a dance, playing trumpet, painting a set, lighting candles, please email Sandy. Upcoming EventsWednesday Worship in 2013
Starting February 20, a weekly Wednesday night worship service will be held from 6-6:30pm. This service will be a time to sing, pray and reconnect as a church family during the middle of a busy week. Sunday morning, April 28, 2013
This production will incorporate costumes, speaking parts, choreography… you name it! The musical will include several teenagers and feature our super talented children’s choir. The Children’s Choir will meet every Wednesday beginning February 20 through May 1 (excluding March 27 for Holy Week/spring break and April 3 for Family Night). Children’s choir segments will be divided according to ages. We will read and act out skits, wear costumes, work with puppets, and practice speaking in front of others. If you have any questions or special needs, please email Sandy.
Other OpportunitiesAfrican Children's Choir: When the African Children's Choir visits, we need host families for the children and their chaperones. Also, one of our church family, Ryan, recently completed a year and a half of touring and ministering with the choir. You can read about his adventures here.
Dot Arnold Scolarship: In honor of Dot Arnold, who has served as a musician here for over 40 years, a scholarship fund has been set up to help those young people who have been involved in the music program at Nolensville First UMC. Click here for more information and an application. |
