The Dot Arnold Scholarship (DAS) Fund at Nolensville First UMC was set up to honor Dot Arnold. For many years, Granny Dot, as she was called, served as a member of the choir, as organist, pianist, and choir director at our church. Granny Dot was involved in the music ministry for more than fifty years. The DAS was originally established more than ten years ago. Since that time, the music ministry at Nolensville First UMC has been greatly expanded, and much of that expansion is based on the solid foundation of music ministry generated by Granny Dot.
The DAS is funded through direct donations and through the fundraising efforts of the music ministry program of Nolensville First UMC. We anticipate the ability to fund one or more initial scholarships, and several renewal scholarships, each year in the amount of $500 each.
High school seniors who will be attending an accredited college or university and have been active in the music program at Nolensville First UMC during their high school years are eligible. While active participation as a singer and/or instrumentalist is preferred, a student who has actively and continuously served in a support role within the music ministry program may also be considered eligible. Those eligible students must complete all portions of the application process and meet the application deadline to be considered by the DAS committee.
Applications are available here or hard copy in the front hall. Applications are due Saturday, May 15, 2021.
